Noosa Flexible Learning Centre
History and Philosophy
Noosa Flexible Learning Centre (NFLC) commenced in 2006, stemming from an educational program ‘Tranzed’ offered through United Synergies. NFLC has developed over the years, starting with 25 young people enrolments in 2006 to over 85 young people enrolments in 2017. Throughout this time curriculum opportunities continue to evolve and a distinct community spirit maintains a unique and defining characteristic of the NFLC community. As with all Flexible Learning Centres, NFLC values the creation of common ground through base principles of RESPECT, PARTICIPATION, SAFE & LEGAL and HONESTY. This allows ALL participants (young people and staff) to: explore the concept of equality; engage in democratic practice and develop positive citizenship skills; embrace mistakes as opportunities to grow; find value in suspending judgements of each other, knowing everyone has a story and; engage in peaceful conflict resolution.
Services
Noosa Flexible Learning Centre (NFLC) strives to create an inclusive and accepting environment where all members have opportunities to engage in genuine learning. Through the development of honest relationships between members of the NFLC community, learning extends beyond the classroom into opportunities for positive personal and community transformations.
